Body Piercing Terms and Conditions

1. About Twisted Steel

Twisted Steel provides professional body piercing services in Cannock, Staffordshire, adhering to the highest hygiene and safety standards. These Terms & Conditions apply to appointments, piercing services, jewellery purchases, and other services provided by Twisted Steel.

2. Appointments

You can request appointments online, via message, or directly with Twisted Steel. Walk-ins may be possible depending on availability but cannot be guaranteed.

Please arrive on time for your appointment. If you are late, we may need to shorten, rearrange, or cancel your appointment if there is insufficient time to safely carry out the piercing.

3. Age & Identification

Valid photographic identification may be required before a piercing can be performed. Age restrictions vary depending on the requested piercing and our current studio, insurance, and legal requirements.

Where parental or guardian consent is necessary, appropriate identification and proof of relationship or responsibility may also be requested.

Twisted Steel reserves the right to refuse a piercing if satisfactory identification or consent cannot be provided.

4. Deposits, Payments & Cancellations

A 25% deposit is required to secure all bookings with Twisted Steel. An appointment is not confirmed until the required deposit has been received.

All deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable. Deposits cannot be transferred to another person or used towards another appointment.

The remaining balance is payable at the time of your appointment.

If you cancel your appointment, fail to attend, or are unable to proceed with the piercing due to not meeting our age, identification, or consent requirements, your deposit will not be refunded.

If Twisted Steel needs to cancel or rearrange your appointment, your deposit will remain valid for the new date. If Twisted Steel cannot provide the booked service, the deposit will be refunded.

5. Right to Refuse Service

Twisted Steel reserves the right to refuse, postpone, or discontinue any piercing if we believe it would be unsafe, inappropriate, or not in the client’s best interests. This includes circumstances involving age or identification requirements, health or anatomical considerations, intoxication, abusive or inappropriate behaviour, or where the requested piercing cannot be safely performed.

The safety of our clients is paramount, and Twisted Steel will not carry out a piercing if it could place the client at unnecessary risk.

6. Health, Medical Information & Consent

Clients must provide accurate and complete information during the consultation and consent process, including any relevant medical conditions, medications, allergies, or other circumstances that might affect the piercing procedure or healing. 

Certain circumstances may mean that a piercing cannot be safely performed or that medical advice should be sought before proceeding.

Before performing any piercing, we will explain the procedure, relevant risks, and aftercare requirements. Clients will have the opportunity to ask questions before proceeding. A piercing will only be done once the consultation and consent process has been completed and informed consent has been provided.

If Twisted Steel considers it unsafe to proceed based on the provided information, the piercing may be refused or postponed.

7. Piercing Procedure & Hygiene

All piercings at Twisted Steel are executed using professional single-use sterile needles, conforming to strict hygiene and safety standards. Equipment, surfaces, and the piercing environment are cleaned and prepared according to appropriate infection-control procedures.

Single-use items are disposed of safely after use and will not be reused. Twisted Steel does not use piercing guns.

8. Jewellery

Twisted Steel uses jewellery deemed suitable for initial piercings and appropriate for the piercing being performed. Jewellery options may vary based on the piercing, anatomy, availability, and stage of healing.

The piercer may refuse to use jewellery that is unsuitable for a fresh or healing piercing, including jewellery provided by the client if its material, size, quality, or suitability cannot be verified.

Initial jewellery may need downsizing once swelling has reduced. If a downsize is recommended, it is the client's responsibility to arrange and attend the follow-up appointment.

9. Aftercare & Client Responsibility

Aftercare advice will be given following your piercing. Clients must follow the provided aftercare instructions and care for their piercing during the healing period.

Clients should avoid excessively touching, twisting, or removing jewellery while healing and should adhere to any specific advice provided for their piercing.

Failure to follow appropriate aftercare may increase the risk of irritation, infection, migration, rejection, scarring, or prolonged healing. If you have concerns about your piercing during the healing process, please contact Twisted Steel for advice. Where symptoms necessitate medical assessment or treatment, you may be advised to seek assistance from an appropriate healthcare professional.

10. Healing Times & Complications

Healing times vary according to the type and location of the piercing and may differ from person to person. Any healing times provided by Twisted Steel are estimates and cannot be guaranteed.

Swelling, tenderness, redness, and some discharge can occur during normal healing. Clients should follow the provided aftercare advice and contact Twisted Steel if they have concerns about their piercing.

Complications can arise even when a piercing has been correctly performed and appropriate aftercare followed. These may include irritation, infection, allergic reactions, migration, rejection, scarring, or prolonged healing.

Twisted Steel cannot guarantee how each individual’s body will heal following a piercing.

11. Changing or Removing Jewellery

Jewellery should not be changed or removed before the piercing has healed sufficiently unless advised by the piercer or an appropriate healthcare professional.

Some piercings may require the initial jewellery to be downsized once swelling has reduced. If a downsize is recommended, it is the client's responsibility to arrange and attend the appropriate follow-up appointment.

Removing jewellery from a healing piercing may cause the channel to shrink or close. If you are experiencing problems with a piercing, please contact Twisted Steel for advice before removing the jewellery if possible.

12. Refunds

Piercing services are non-refundable once the piercing procedure has been carried out. Deposits are governed by the terms set out in Section 4.

For hygiene and safety reasons, jewellery that has been worn, inserted, or removed from its sealed packaging cannot typically be returned or exchanged unless faulty.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects your statutory rights regarding faulty goods or services not rendered with reasonable care and skill.

13. Photography & Social Media

Twisted Steel may request permission to take photographs or videos of a piercing for portfolio, website, social media, promotional, or educational purposes. 

Photography or video will only be used for these purposes once the appropriate consent has been obtained. Consent to photography or promotional use is entirely optional and not a condition of receiving a piercing. Refusing this consent will not affect the service provided.

If consent has been given, you may contact Twisted Steel later if you wish to withdraw consent for future use. Withdrawal of consent will not affect material already lawfully published or used prior to the withdrawal request.

14. Personal Information & Privacy

Twisted Steel collects and processes personal information as necessary to manage bookings, consultations, consent records, piercing services, and client communication.

Your personal information will be handled in accordance with applicable UK data protection legislation and our Privacy Policy. Certain records related to consultations, consent, and piercing procedures may need to be retained for legal, insurance, regulatory, or business reasons.

15. Liability

Twisted Steel will take reasonable care and employ appropriate professional procedures when providing body piercing services. Clients are responsible for providing accurate information during the consultation and for following the aftercare advice given.

Individual reactions and healing outcomes vary, and Twisted Steel cannot guarantee that a piercing will heal within a specific timeframe or without complications.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions restricts any liability that cannot legally be excluded under UK law, including your statutory consumer rights.

16. Complaints

Twisted Steel aims to deliver a professional, safe, and high-quality service. If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of your experience, please contact Twisted Steel as soon as possible so we can discuss your concerns and, where appropriate, resolve the matter.

If your concern relates to a piercing or its healing, we may ask you to visit the studio for an in-person assessment.

Nothing in this complaints procedure affects your statutory rights.

17. Changes to These Terms & Conditions

Twisted Steel may update these Terms & Conditions periodically to reflect changes to our services, policies, legal requirements, or business practices.

The Terms & Conditions applicable to your booking will be those in effect at the relevant time.
